Mirna Mejia, a senior at Terra Linda High School, will be sharing her family’s immigration story. She works as an activist for the immigrant community here in Marin organizing rallies, talking to the news and spreading awareness. This is an opportunity to learn more about how current immigration policies are directly affecting families among us.
Kirke Hasson, dad to Kathryn Hasson '19, is a partner in the law firm of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, and the former co-head of its Litigation Section. He has represented clients in federal and state courts, and recently filed an Amicus brief in a federal action where the US Department of Justice challenged the right of the State of California to inspect federal immigration detention centers. He will be talking about certain issues related to immigrant rights, including some intersections between state and federal laws applicable to immigrant rights.
